Pay your dog for doing nothingThis week: calm. Some dogs don't relax on their own, and calm doesn't come naturally to some breeds. Kikopup's Capturing Calmness shows how to reward it, and The Calm Settle turns it into a cue for cafes and chats with neighbors. | 1. | Sit nearby with treats on you and ignore your dog. |
| 2. | When your dog lies down or relaxes on their own, quietly deliver a treat. |
| 3. | Repeat daily, so calm becomes the thing that pays. |
| Why it works: when calm gets reinforced, your dog starts choosing calmer behaviors and actually enjoys being calm. |
|
The muffin tin gamePupford calls it one of the easiest, cheapest brain games around, and their walkthrough proves it. DOGGYโขU's demo turns plain kibble into an enrichment job that burns mental and physical energy. | 2. | Fill most of the holes with 3 to 5 treats. |
| 3. | Cover them with tennis balls and let your dog dig. |

| Why does my dog eat grass, and should I stop her? |
Usually, no need. PetMD's Why Do Dogs Eat Grass notes that 2-10% of wolf stomach contents may be plant material, so the habit may be inherited. A 2007 study found dogs grazed less after meals and later in the day, which points to normal behavior, not illness. It's rarely about throwing up either: in one study almost all owners said their dogs ate grass, but almost none said they regularly vomited after. The real risks are pesticides and parasites, so keep up the monthly dewormer and fecal tests. Bottom line: untreated grass is fine, skip lawns you can't vouch for. | When to call the vet: right away if she ate pesticide-treated grass and shows drooling, nausea, vomiting, diarrhea or less appetite. |
